According to the latest poll, the Swiss People's Party (SVP) is expected to gain 3.1 percent in the upcoming Swiss federal elections on October 22nd. Meanwhile, the Green Party and the Free Democratic Party (FDP) are expected to lose support. Health care costs are among the top three concerns for all party supporters. The fifth and final survey conducted by Tamedia and "20 Minutes" was released on Tuesday. The survey, conducted by the Institute Leewas on 19th and 20th September, showed the same trends as the previous surveys. The Swiss People's Party (SVP) is expected to increase its voter share from 2019 by 3.1 percentage points to 28.7 percent. The Social Democratic Party (SP) can expect a gain of 0.8 points to 17.6 percent. The Greens would have to accept a loss of 2.7 percentage points to 10.5 percent. The Free Democratic Party (FDP) is projected to suffer a loss of 1.3 percentage points, bringing their total to 13.8 percent. The Green Liberals are expected to see a decrease of 0.3 percentage points, and the center a decrease of 0.2 percentage points. In the list of worries, health care costs increased by 5 percentage points to 75 percent compared to the July survey, unchanged followed by retirement (54%) and immigration (52%). The following places were occupied by asylum, rents, property prices and climate change. Climate change was initially identified as the main concern by supporters of the Green Party. For the other parties besides the Swiss People's Party (SVP), healthcare costs are the most pressing issue. The SVP's supporters first named immigration, followed by asylum and healthcare costs. When it comes to solving the healthcare cost problem, 35 percent of respondents from the middle party and the SP party were seen to have the highest competencies. They were followed closely by the FDP and SVP (28 percent). For solving the problem of old-age provision, 39 percent saw the SP as the best-suited, followed by the middle party (37 percent), FDP (30 percent) and SVP (27 percent). In migration issues, the SVP came in first with 49 percent. The results are based on 29,081 responses modeled according to demographic, geographic, and political variables. The statistical margin of error is +/- 1 percentage point.
