The Swiss flight from Zurich to Beirut was canceled on Friday night due to the unstable situation in Lebanon. The Airbus A220-300 with 138 passengers on board was diverted to Vienna.
Its experts have come to the conclusion that "the situation in Lebanon is difficult to assess at this time," the airline announced on Friday in response to an inquiry from the Keystone-SDA news agency. It thus confirmed a report by the "20 Minuten" online portal.
As a precaution, Swiss therefore decided "not to continue" the flight. As the aircraft was no longer given permission to land in Zurich, the flight was diverted to Vienna. The passengers were rebooked on other flights.
