The Swiss stock exchange SIX has appointed a new head for the Spanish stock exchange BME, which is owned by SIX. Juan Flames will take up the post of "Head BME Exchanges" and "CEO BME" in mid-November.

Flames thus succeeds Javier Hernani. As a member of the SIX Group Executive Board, he will focus on the Securities Services business unit in future, according to a press release issued on Tuesday. Hernani will also remain a member of the Board of Directors of the Spanish company BME.

Flames currently works for Barclays Bank Europe in Madrid as Head of Capital Markets. Prior to that, he was with Goldman Sachs in London for more than a decade.
