A Swiss national has been slightly injured in an attack on a building in Beirut. The case in the Lebanese capital is being pursued as part of consular protection, the Swiss Foreign Ministry wrote.

This was announced by the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) on Tuesday at the request of the Keystone-SDA news agency. The FDFA could not provide any further information for reasons of data and personal protection.

Around 1,200 Swiss nationals abroad are registered with the Swiss embassy in Lebanon. In addition, around 90 people have registered a trip to Lebanon via the Travel Admin application, according to the statement.

The FDFA does not organize the departure of Swiss nationals. Travel to Lebanon has been advised against since June 2024.
