The Swiss government has no plans to introduce border controls in the south of the country. This was stated by Federal Councillor Elisabeth Baume-Schneider at the meeting of EU interior ministers in Brussels. According to the Federal Councillor, border controls are not an option for the government at present. Instead, reinforcements have been sent to Ticino to better plan the deployment of personnel. This is due to the situation in Lampedusa, where thousands of migrants arrive in search of a better life in Europe. There are also no indications that Germany would like to introduce border controls to Switzerland, Baume-Schneider answered to a journalist's question. Germany had announced to systematically control its borders to Poland or Czech Republic. In summary, the Swiss government has no plans to introduce border controls in the south of the country and there are no indications that Germany would like to introduce border controls to Switzerland.
