The tenants' association has welcomed the rejection of new rules on owner-occupation of rental properties. The current regulation is sufficient, said Sarah Brutschin, board member of the tenants' association, to Swiss television SRF.
For the association, accepting the bill would have meant weakening tenants, Brutschin continued on Sunday. If voters rejected both bills, including the one on subletting, it would be a clear sign that they did not want tenants to be weakened. This should be taken into account in further parliamentary debates, for example on the topic of rent pricing.
