The Swiss Senate has decided not to finance the installation of electric car charging stations with public funds. The majority of the Commission for Environment, Spatial Planning and Energy (Urek-S) argued that private individuals should bear the costs for such charging stations, especially in multi-party buildings, which require an expensive basic infrastructure from the start. The Senate followed this opinion with 25 votes in favour, 10 against and 3 abstentions. The minority, in line with the Federal Council, wanted to support the installation of charging stations, arguing that it is in the public interest and could be beneficial in residential blocks.
