The Swiss People's Party (SVP) has regained its fifth seat in the St. Gallen National Council elections, which it lost in 2019. The Green Liberals (GLP) lost their only seat. The result of the 2019 "Climate Election" has been partially reversed in the canton of St. Gallen. At that time, SVP and Mitte each lost one seat, while the Greens and GLP each gained one. On Sunday, eleven of the twelve St. Galler seats were held by incumbents. Only the Green Liberal Thomas Brunner did not stand for re-election. The SVP won this vacant seat. The "Climate Alliance", a joint list of Green Liberals, Greens and SP, was able to retain at least three of its four seats. The incumbent Claudia Friedl, Barbara Gysi (both SP) and Franziska Ryser were re-elected. The GLP ran with several members of the cantonal council, but without a well-known personality. There were no changes for the FDP and for the Mitte, who were able to keep their two seats. In the St. Gallen National Council delegation, the SVP will have five seats, FDP, Mitte and SP two mandates each and the Greens one seat.
