The polls were right: the Swiss Parliament has shifted to the right. The Swiss People's Party (SVP) has regained the losses it suffered in 2019 and is now at a voter share of almost 29%. The party's success is largely due to its focus on the issue of migration, with the slogan of the 10-million-Swiss being a particularly effective campaign tool. The SVP has also seen gains in the West of Switzerland, where it has traditionally struggled, and has benefited from the success of right-wing minor parties.

In contrast to 2019, when the National Council became more female, green and progressive, this election has seen a shift back to the right and a more conservative atmosphere. This will have a significant impact on the political climate in the Council.
