On Friday evening, the Thurgau cantonal police took action against a meeting that they described as an event organized by right-wing extremist circles. With the support of federal authorities, they cordoned off the venue on Lake Constance and checked around 50 people. They were expelled from the canton.
The police measures were aimed at preventing the event and ensuring public safety at all times. This was stated in a press release issued by the Thurgau cantonal police on Friday evening.
When asked, Matthias Graf from the media service of the Thurgau cantonal police said that a concert had been planned. The majority of those expelled were young men from German-speaking Switzerland.
In principle, the organizers of the event are private individuals. The group to which they belonged was being clarified. The operation was still ongoing, said Graf at around nine o'clock in the evening.
The Thurgau police announced that they would "keep the control pressure high in the coming days". According to the police statement, the concert was to have taken place at Untersee.
The Thurgau cantonal police received support from the Federal Office for Customs and Border Security and from neighboring cantons.
