Following the start of the strike by the German train drivers' union GDL, the strike has also begun on passenger services. As a result, Deutsche Bahn's severely restricted emergency timetable has been in force since 2.00 a.m. on Wednesday morning, as the company announced during the night.

According to SBB, the strike in Germany will also lead to many cancellations on cross-border passenger services. Canceled connections on Swiss route sections will be replaced, as SBB announced on Tuesday. The restrictions are expected to last from 2.00 a.m. on Wednesday until 6.00 p.m. on Friday. Night trains to Germany are also affected.

SBB recommended that travel to or through Germany be postponed to another time. Thanks to a special goodwill gesture by Deutsche Bahn, travelers would be able to postpone their journeys and use their ticket earlier or later.
