Two men have been arrested following the two parcel bomb explosions in August and November in St-Jean and Grange-Canal in the canton of Geneva. A twelve-year-old girl was seriously injured in one of the explosions.
The Geneva-based lawyer of one of the suspects confirmed corresponding reports by the "Tribune de Genève" and "20 Minutes" to the Keystone-SDA news agency on Friday. "My client has nothing to do with this case and denies all the allegations made against him," he emphasized.
The investigation is in the hands of the Office of the Attorney General of Switzerland (OAG). It is responsible for cases in which explosives were used. The two suspects are brothers. One was arrested in Valais, the other in Geneva.
The "Tribune de Genève" also reported that the duo are suspected of being involved in a third explosion that took place in April of this year. A letterbox in the Rue du Vélodrome in Plan-les-Ouates GE was targeted.
Initially, the motives for these explosions were unclear. The investigation is still ongoing in order to examine all possible leads, the Office of the Attorney General of Switzerland told Keystone-SDA on request. It could not provide any further information on the case at this stage of the investigation.
