The Valais police arrested two people on Tuesday on suspicion of fraud. They are suspected of having posed as police officers.

Two elderly people reported cases of fraud to the police on Tuesday that had taken place during the morning, as reported by the Valais cantonal police on Wednesday. The manhunt led to the arrest of two French suspects, aged 19 and 25, in the town of Sion.

The investigation was initially still ongoing. A third case was reported to the police at the end of Tuesday. The public prosecutor's office launched an investigation.

Over the summer, the Valais cantonal police repeatedly warned the public about fake bankers and police officers. According to the police, the fraudsters in such cases pretend to be bank employees or police officers. They contact the victims by telephone to give them instructions and obtain information.

They pretend to have problems with the bank card or a fraudulent withdrawal from the victim's account. The victim is asked to hand over the bank card or go to the ATM.
