The Vaud cantonal police have identified two minors suspected of committing arson in Payerne and Granges-près-Marnand in the canton of Vaud. They were reported to the juvenile court and remanded in custody for six days.

A total of eight cases of arson, including vegetation fires, the burning of trees and bushes and damage to a building, were committed in the two Vaud municipalities between the end of January and the end of February, the Vaud cantonal police said in a statement on Tuesday evening.

The investigation revealed that these crimes were committed by a 14-year-old French national and a 16-year-old Swiss woman. Both are resident in the region.

The two young people have admitted to the crimes. They have been reported to the juvenile court and will be brought to court soon. The total amount of damage has not yet been estimated. Six criminal charges have been filed so far.
