Viasuisse Trains Artificial Intelligence for Traffic Jam Predictions

Viasuisse is currently training an AI to analyse traffic jams in Switzerland in real time and make predictions. This AI will be more precise than a human in predicting traffic jams. It will take into account data such as weather, the number of cars on the road, and the flow of traffic. Viasuisse hopes to offer AI-generated traffic predictions for key road sections by the end of the year, such as the A1 between the Bareggtunnel and Birrfeld AG or the Zurich Nordring. The vision is to create an app for drivers to input their work route and estimate whether it is worth leaving now or working longer. However, there are still open questions about data protection. One possibility is to use AI to analyse surveillance cameras on the roads, but this will take some time.
