Visual and acoustic journey through the work of Jean-Luc Godard

The Fondation Jan Michalski in Montricher, Vaud, is presenting a visual and acoustic journey through the work of cult director Jean-Luc Godard. Excerpts from the last five films by the filmmaker, who died in 2022, will be shown on 20 screens on site.
The Swiss artist Fabrice Aragno designed the installation called "Eloge de l'image". Aragno worked closely with Godard for over 20 years as a cameraman, editor and producer.
Sequences from the films "Éloge de l'amour" (2002), "Notre musique" (2004), "Film socialisme" (2010), "Adieu au langage" (2014) and "Le livre d'image" (2018) can be seen on the screens.
The Swiss filmmaker Jean-Luc Godard (1930-2022) had a significant influence on contemporary cinema. Since "A Bout de souffle" (1959), he has made around 120 films, including "Le Mépris" (1963), "Alphaville" (1965), "Pierrot le fou" (1965) and "Nouvelle vague" (1990).
Godard has won various awards for his more recent films. "Adieu au langage" (2014) was awarded the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival. With the film "Livre d'image" (2018), the director won a Golden Palm of Honor from the jury in Cannes. Godard was not afraid to turn cinematic codes on their head and experiment with new forms.
The exhibition opens on Friday and runs until January 28, 2024; admission is free.
