The Vorarlberg-born writer Norbert Loacker has died. Technology, philosophy and society were central to the work of the 84-year-old, who moved to Zurich after completing his studies as a secondary school professor.
Loacker was also active as an editor at Kindler Verlag and as President of the Robert Walser Foundation, the Vorarlberg Franz Michael Felder Archive announced on Monday. He died on January 11 in Frauenfeld.
Loacker was born in Altach on July 22, 1939. After graduating from high school, he studied classical philology, history and philosophy in Vienna. His science fiction novel "Aipotu" was published in 1980, followed by other works. According to Jürgen Thaler from the Franz-Michael-Felder-Archive, the starting point for his texts were often trips to the USA.
Loacker also wrote a non-fiction book entitled "Wo Zürich zur Ruhe kommt. The cemeteries of the city of Zurich". Loacker always remained loyal to his home in Vorarlberg, Thaler told the Austrian news agency APA. The author had given his papers to the Franz Michael Felder Archive during his lifetime.
