Voting on 13th Old Age and Survivors’ Insurance Pension and Pension Initiative in March

On March 3rd 2023, Swiss citizens will vote on two initiatives concerning retirement. The first, proposed by the Swiss Trade Union, is for a 13th monthly pension for retirees. The second, proposed by the Jungfreisinnigen, is to link the retirement age to the average life expectancy. This would initially raise the retirement age for both genders to 66 years, and then increase it by 0.8 months for each additional month of life expectancy. The Swiss government and parliament have recommended that both initiatives be rejected.
