Wheelchair user run over by train at Kaiseraugst AG station

An elderly woman in a wheelchair fell onto the track bed at Kaiseraugst AG station on Tuesday and was run over by a train. Another person was injured by flying parts of the wheelchair, as reported by the Aargau cantonal police on Wednesday.
The wheelchair user, who was traveling with an electrically operated leader, was "very lucky", the police write. She was lying in the middle of the track bed when the approaching train ran over her and was only slightly injured.
The senior citizen was taken to hospital by the emergency services. A third person was hit by flying wheelchair parts and was also slightly injured.
Following the accident, which happened shortly before 4 p.m., rail traffic in Kaiseraugst was restricted for several hours. Investigations into the cause of the accident are still ongoing, according to the cantonal police. At present, the possibility of third party involvement has been ruled out.
