Woman dies in solarium fire in St. Margrethen

On Monday morning, a woman was found dead in a solarium in St. Margrethen SG. According to a police statement, she was in a cabin filled with smoke.
Both the cause of the fire and the cause of the woman's death are being investigated, the St. Gallen cantonal police wrote in a statement on Monday. There was a lot of smoke on the first floor of the property.
According to the statement, the person found lifeless was a 48-year-old Ukrainian woman living in the St. Gallen Rhine Valley.
It is not known whether the fully clothed woman had used the solarium beforehand, the police added. The solarium contains several individual booths and can be entered and operated independently during opening hours.
