Zurich Airport is considering whether to take legal action in light of Friday's IT failure. The extent of the financial damage caused by the failed update remains to be seen.
Zurich Airport is currently analyzing the incident, an airport spokeswoman told Radio SRF1's "Regionaljournal Zürich-Schaffhausen" on Monday. The extent of the damage is being clarified and whether the airport intends to take legal action against those responsible.
The airline Swiss is also in the process of assessing the financial impact of the IT breakdown - together with its insurance company and its partners, according to an inquiry from the Keystone-SDA news agency. In the event of flight cancellations, the airline incurs various costs, including care services such as meals and transfers for passengers.
Legal action against the IT company is not the focus, the airline announced. The glitch had no impact on the Swiss systems.
132 flights canceled
The globally failed update by the US cyber security company Crowdstrike disrupted operations at Zurich Airport on Friday.
The airlines had to cancel 132 flights. Around 10,000 passengers were affected by the IT glitch. However, no one had to sleep on the ground. Passengers either flew later or were accommodated in hotels.
The worldwide IT glitch affected 8.5 million Windows devices. In addition to airports, supermarkets, banks, hospitals, TV stations and other institutions also had problems.
