Zurich Film Festival Ends Partnership with Läderach

The Zurich Film Festival (ZFF) has ended its partnership with the Swiss chocolate maker Läderach in response to a documentary aired by Swiss television SRF about child abuse. The documentary, which aired on Thursday, detailed physical and psychological abuse of children at an evangelical private school founded by former Läderach CEO Jürg Läderach. The ZFF said the film had "upset everyone" and, after an open exchange, the festival and the chocolate company had "jointly decided to end their partnership". Although no accusations have been made against the current Läderach leadership, the festival management said "the suffering of the alleged victims is still associated with the family and company name". On Friday, the ZFF had still been standing behind its sponsor.
