"L'amour du monde" by Jenna Hasse receives the 2023 Zurich Film Award for Best Feature Film. The jury chose "Fälle" by Mischa Hedinger and Michela Flück as the best short film. And the crown in the documentary category goes to "Die Anhörung" by Lisa Gerig.
The winners of this year's "Lupe" were announced by the Zurich Film Foundation on Monday. "L'amour du monde" is the first feature film by Jenna Hasse, who was born in Lisbon and grew up in French-speaking Switzerland.
The jury praised the film for bringing the themes of summer, loneliness and fear of the future to the point in an unagitated and thoughtful way. The film premiered at the Berlinale in February and was shown in Switzerland from April.
The short film "Fälle" surprises again and again as a border crosser between experimental and feature film, tragedy and comedy, absurdity and abstraction, was the reason given by the annually newly composed jury for awarding the "Lupe" to the work of Hedinger and Flück.
"The Hearing" was praised by the jury of experts as a rare insight into a formalized state process in which livelihoods are at stake. Gerig has four rejected asylum seekers relive the hearing about their reasons for fleeing. The award ceremony will take place on November 17 at a celebration and meeting of the Swiss film industry.
