The Zurich Openair will now take place on two weekends next summer. The headliners of the 12th edition are superstar Sam Smith and US rapper Macklemore, as the organizers announced on Thursday.
According to the organizers, the idea of holding the festival on two weekends rather than during the week has been on the table for some time. The weekends would offer more festival visitors the opportunity to take part in the event, a festival media spokeswoman told the Keystone-SDA news agency on request.
Also confirmed are appearances by German rappers Sido and Rin as well as British pop greats Jorja Smith and Louis Tomlinson. The latter became famous as a member of "One Direction".
Further appearances are to be announced in the coming weeks. The 12th edition of the festival will take place in 2024 on the weekend of August 23 and the weekend of August 30. The festival will take place over four days on Fridays and Saturdays. Last year it was five days.
