There were restrictions on the main railway line between Olten SO and Bern on Monday morning. A train collided with a deer near Thunstetten shortly after 09:00.
The passengers on the affected train were evacuated, as an SBB spokesperson told the Keystone-SDA news agency on request. No one on the train was injured.
The animal did not survive the accident, a spokeswoman for the Bern cantonal police said on request.
After the incident, the other passenger trains were diverted via the main line via Burgdorf BE. This caused delays of up to 15 minutes for passengers, according to SBB.
The disruption lasted several hours. The delays affected Intercity trains, Interregio connections and also S-Bahn trains.
