Montana Aerospace divests its e-mobility segment, selling Alu Menziken to Mengtai Germany, streamlining its portfolio towards aerostructures.
Montana Aerospace is divesting its e-mobility segment, which is part of Alu Menziken. The buyer is the German subsidiary of the Chinese Mengtai Group. Montana Aerospace is selling 100 % of the shares in Alu Menziken Extrusion AG to Mengtai Germany, as the company announced on Wednesday. The company views the sale as a “decisive step in the implementation of the announced goal of streamlining the portfolio and developing into a purer aerostructures company.”
Alu Menziken manufactures lightweight aluminum components, including solutions for e-battery systems, structural components, and crash management systems, and supplies original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in the automotive, rail, construction, industrial, and pneumatics sectors. With around 700 employees and production sites in Switzerland, Austria, and Romania, the company generated consolidated net sales of just under 161 million euros and adjusted EBITDA of 25.4 million euros in 2023.
The Mengtai Group, based in Ordos, China, was founded in 2001 and is privately owned. The company is mainly active in the fields of energy generation and distribution, agriculture, and aluminum.
Montana Aerospace assumes that the “strong, new owner” Alu Menziken offers the opportunity to implement growth plans in the best possible way. Part of the Mengtai Group and owned by Mengtai Germany is the APT Group, based in Monheim, Germany. It supplies the European aluminum industry with extruded profiles and machined products for various sectors, including automotive, construction, industry, and transportation. The acquisition of Alu Menziken is intended to strengthen Mengtai’s position in the European market for aluminum extrusions.
