Schumacher’s Timepiece Collection Nets Over 3 Million Euros; Special Edition F.P. Journe Tops Sales.
Michael Schumacher’s family rsell eight watches from the legendary racing driver’s collection for over three million euros. The highlight of the auction at Christie’s in Geneva was a unique F.P. Journe watch, crafted specifically for Schumacher in 2004. This piece, featuring seven championship symbols and a personal dedication from the Ferrari team boss, fetched a staggering 1.2 million Swiss francs.
Other notable sales included a Schumacher Rolex, which went for 250,000 francs, and an Audemars Piguet at 330,000 francs. The remaining five F.P. Journe watches brought in nearly 1.4 million francs collectively. However, auction goers faced additional costs, with Christie’s imposing a 26% commission on each sale price.
Some items sold at the lower end of their estimated value, notably a casket designed for five F.P. Journe watches, which soared to three times its expected price. The identity of buyers remains confidential, as Christie’s adheres to strict privacy standards regarding bidder information.
Living near Geneva, Schumacher has stayed out of the public eye since his skiing accident in 2013. His family has remained private about his condition, though his passion for watch collecting continues to echo in his legacy.
