Swiss inflation held steady at 1.4% in May, the same rate as in April, according to the Federal Statistical Office (FSO) on Tuesday. Swiss consumer goods are on average 1.4% more expensive than in May 2023. Domestic goods have increased by 2.0%, while imported goods are 0.6% cheaper than last year.

Prices did rise slightly compared to April. The national consumer price index (CPI), used to calculate annual inflation, increased by 0.3% to 107.7 points.

This monthly increase is attributed to higher residential rents and package tours abroad. Fresh vegetables and petrol also saw price hikes, while heating oil and foreign red wine prices dropped, along with prices in the para-hotel sector.
