Two people, a man and a woman, were killed in a violent dispute in Ittigen near Bern on Friday morning. Another woman was seriously injured. A second man involved in the altercation fled the scene.
The report was received at 4.20 a.m. on Friday morning, as reported by the Bern cantonal police in the evening. It stated that several people had been seriously injured in an altercation on Längfeldstrasse in Ittigen.
When the emergency services arrived on the scene, they found a seriously injured man on a sidewalk. Two other seriously injured women were then found in an apartment building.
The injured were taken to hospital in a critical condition. However, the man and one of the two women died there shortly afterwards. According to the police, there are concrete leads regarding the identity of the people, but formal identification is still pending.
A photographer from the Keystone-SDA news agency observed a red stain resembling blood on a balcony railing on Längfeldstrasse in Ittigen. The authorities did not provide any information on this. The Bern-Mittelland regional public prosecutor’s office is now looking for witnesses.
Various services of the Bern cantonal police, three ambulance teams, a Rega crew, specialists from the Institute of Forensic Medicine at the University of Bern and the Ittigen and Moossee region fire departments were deployed in Ittigen on Friday.
