Swiss border security made a significant drug bust recently, apprehending two men on the nation’s southern frontier. In a detailed operation by the Ticino cantonal police, the duo was found transporting over two kilograms of cocaine. Their vehicle, marked by an Italian license plate, became the center of this significant narcotics seizure.
The driver, a 50-year-old man, compounded his legal troubles by driving without a valid license. To deceive the authorities, he presented a counterfeit French passport. His accomplice wasn’t without fault either, carrying an Italian ID that was not suitable for international travel and an expired residence permit.
The arrest occurred at the Stabio highway exit, a strategic point operated by vigilant employees of the Federal Office for Customs and Border Security. The charges laid against the two are severe, with the primary accusation being a serious violation of the Narcotics Act. The 50-year-old faces additional scrutiny for his unlicensed driving and document forgery.
