Prince Albert II of Monaco visited the cantons of Vaud and Neuchâtel on Monday to focus on sustainable development. He visited the base of the SolarStratos solar plane in Payerne VD and a laboratory in Hauterive NE. In Payerne, he was welcomed by the city's mayor Eric Küng and the Vaud State Councillor Isabelle Moret. Solar energy pioneer Raphaël Domjan presented him with his SolarStratos project, which aims to reach the stratosphere with a manned solar plane. Albert II also tested a flight simulator and flew with Domjan in a small electric plane to Colombier NE and then to Hauterive. At the port in Hauterive, Domjan showed him the Solarboat PlanetSolar II, a water taxi that will promote solar navigation in the Titicaca Lake in South America next year. The visit continued at the castle of Neuchâtel, where he was welcomed by the Neuchâtel State Council in corpore and the city council. Prince Albert II stated that Monaco has supported several projects related to the energy transition, such as the Solar Impulse mission of Bertrand Piccard and the PlanetSolar mission of Domjan. He added that thanks to the government of the principality and his own foundation, they have been able to support numerous projects in Monaco and elsewhere. These projects are important to create the necessary energy transition and move towards a decarbonised world.nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
