On Tuesday 12th September, the Swiss Parliament will be celebrating the 175th anniversary of the first Swiss Federal Constitution. At 17.30, a special event will be held on the Bundesplatz, with several artists performing, and at 18.48 the mosaic artwork ‘Tilo’ will be unveiled on the Parliament building’s façade. The 246 ceramic plates of the artwork represent the 200 seats in the National Council and the 46 seats in the Council of States. The title of the work is a tribute to Tilo Frey, who was one of the first women elected to the National Council in 1971. The celebration will also include the presentation of the original 1848 Federal Constitution, on loan from the Swiss Federal Archives. The event is an opportunity to celebrate the values that have shaped the unified and democratic Switzerland over the past 175 years, and to renew the commitment to a successful and harmonious future for the country.nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
