The Swiss travel industry has recovered from the shock of the coronavirus pandemic. According to the Swiss Travel Association (SRV), the 800 travel agencies and tour operators in Switzerland are expected to reach the same level of turnover as in 2019. Although passenger numbers are still lower than before the crisis, the SRV estimates that the turnover of Swiss travel agencies will reach 2.5 billion francs in 2023, which is 20% higher than last year. The most popular destinations for summer holidays are Greece, Turkey and Spain, while Egypt, the Canary Islands and Cyprus are the most popular destinations for autumn. For winter holidays, the most popular destinations are Thailand, the Maldives and the United Arab Emirates. Prices for beach holidays have increased by 10%, while flights have increased by 15-20%. The SRV survey shows that the lack of staff is the biggest challenge for the travel industry. Inflation and rising prices are also a concern. The travel industry is also facing the challenge of sustainability, as customers are becoming more aware of the environmental impact of their travels. The SRV is working to create a standard for calculating the CO2 emissions of foreign trips, to give customers a basis for making more environmentally friendly travel decisions.nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
