The Swiss Ständerat has rejected a motion from former Zürcher SVP-Nationalrat Hans-Ueli Vogt which proposed changes to laws to prevent discrimination against older people in applications for federal positions. The motion was accepted by the Nationalrat in May this year, but the Ständerat argued that there was no need for any changes as there was no discrimination against older people. According to the Federal Personnel Ordinance, employees of the federal government can be employed until the age of 70. Therefore, the motion has been rejected and no changes to the laws are necessary.nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
