Medicines Receive a QR Code

The Swiss National Council and Council of States have both approved a motion to require medication packaging to include a QR code. The code will supplement, not replace, the written information on the packaging or insert. This will allow the information to be available in more languages than just the official languages of the country. Scanning the code with a mobile phone will automatically direct the user to the manufacturer's information on the internet. This will increase patient safety, as people with visual impairments can have the information read to them.
