Bishop Markus Büchel of St. Gallen has responded to the results of a study on sexual abuse in the Catholic Church. He admitted to making mistakes. A criminal complaint has been filed against a priest. Bishop Markus Büchel has commented on the two St. Gallen cases that appear in the University of Zurich's pilot study released on Tuesday. These cases involve serious assaults in a children's home in Lütisburg that took place until 1988, and a priest who has been accused of sexual assault since 2002. Büchel's predecessor was heavily involved in the investigations. Büchel said that no open cases were reported to him when he took over. He admitted that not reviewing his predecessor's investigations was a big mistake.
