Urs Furrer to Become New Director of the Chamber of Commerce

Urs Furrer has been proposed to become the Director of the Swiss Trade Association (SGV) from 1 May 2024. Until then, the SGV will be led by the interim co-leadership of Kurt Gfeller and Dieter Kläy. Furrer is a lic. iur. HSG and lawyer, and has been the CEO of the Chocosuisse and Biscosuisse associations since 2014. He has also been a member of the management of Expertsuisse and economiesuisse, and a business lawyer at KPMG. Furrer is a member of the FDP and lives in the canton of Aargau. His appointment must be confirmed by the Swiss Trade Chamber. The previous SGV director, Henrique Schneider, was forced to resign due to a plagiarism scandal. The long-time SGV director, Hans-Ulrich Bigler, retired at the end of June due to age.
