Chiesa and Regazzi are ahead in the Council of States race in Ticino

Marco Chiesa (SVP) and Fabio Regazzi (center) are ahead in the second round of the Ticino Council of States elections after 100 of the 106 municipalities have been counted. However, only 2,500 votes separate second-placed Regazzi from Alex Farinelli (FDP), who is currently in third place.
This should lead to a showdown between the centrist and the FDP candidate when the last municipalities in Ticino are counted. With a good 39% of the votes counted so far, SVP President Marco Chiesa appears to be the frontrunner for the small chamber.
