Switzerland will be the guest country at the important film market Marché du Film in Cannes next May. This was announced by the promotion agency Swiss Films on Tuesday. This will give the Swiss film industry a prominent presence.
The focus of this guest country appearance is Switzerland as a co-production country as well as the exchange of Swiss representatives with the global film industry, as stated in the Swiss Films press release.
The 77th edition of the Marché du Film will take place as part of the Cannes Film Festival (May 14-22, 2024). With over 14,000 participants, this market is considered the largest international gathering of filmmakers. Trade representatives, producers, distributors, festival programmers and institutions from the film industry are always on site. The market aims to forge new partnerships worldwide, secure financing for projects and explore trends in the industry.
The invitation to Switzerland was an initiative of the film market, writes Swiss Films. The promotion agency for Swiss film is responsible for the implementation of the presentation. The appearance is supported by the Federal Office of Culture and the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation (SRG).
