SBB railroad staff will generally receive a 1 percent pay rise from 2024. A further 1 percent will be paid out for individual salaries. There will also be a one-off bonus to partially compensate for inflation.

This was agreed between the railroad company and the social partners in the latest round of wage negotiations, as the negotiators announced on Friday. The negotiations were challenging and intensive, as a balance had to be found between the social partners' demands and SBB's financial possibilities.

Specifically, the one-off bonus amounts to CHF 500 for a workload of less than 50 percent and CHF 1,000 for a workload of 50 percent or more. The bonus will be paid out with the January salary.

The measures also apply to SBB Cargo. The social partners included the Transport Workers' Union (SEV), the public service staff association Transfair, the Association of Swiss Locomotive Drivers and Candidates (VSLF) and the Association of Public Transport Managers (KVöV).
