SP co-leader Samira Marti calls for election according to ticket

SP co-leader Samira Marti has reminded parliament to stick to the SP's ticket. In the first round of voting for the successor to SP Federal Councillor Alain Berset, the non-nominated Zurich Councillor of States Daniel Jositsch received more votes than the nominated National Councillor Jon Pult, but fewer than Beat Jans, who was also nominated.
"I would ask you to choose Jans or Pult," Marti said on Wednesday. It is good manners to abide by the informal rule of the Federal Council ticket. This contributes significantly to stability and concordance and the functioning of the institutions.
"It commits us to joint solutions in mutual respect," said the co-leader of the parliamentary group. "Please decide on an official candidate and stick to your own recommendation." Jositsch himself did not comment on the number of votes in the first ballot.
