157 companies from Switzerland have already signed up to the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi). In doing so, they are committing to scientific CO2 reduction targets that are in line with the Paris Climate Agreement.
The companies include many large listed corporations such as Givaudan, Holcim, Nestlé and Swiss Re. However, a number of Swiss SMEs from various sectors are also members of the initiative. The majority of companies have joined the SBTi in the past 24 months.
The SBTi is a globally active organization founded in 2015 and supported by business associations, environmental organizations and the UN. It creates standards for companies' CO2 reduction and validates them for a fee. Almost 7000 companies worldwide have joined the initiative.
