Christa Hostettler becomes the new Director of the Federal Office of Transport

The new Director of the Federal Office of Transport is Christa Hostettler. The 49-year-old is currently a member of the Executive Board of Postauto AG. She will take up her new position on August 1, 2024.
The Federal Council appointed Christa Hostettler at its meeting on Wednesday. She will succeed Peter Füglistaler, who is retiring at the end of July.
Hostettler studied law at the Universities of Geneva and Bern. She later worked as head lawyer for the City of Berne and as Secretary General of the Conference of Public Transport Directors. In her current position at Postauto AG, she is Head of Market and Customers.
In Christa Hostettler, the Federal Council has appointed an "outstandingly qualified and high-profile personality", according to the press release. She brings with her extensive experience and a broad network and is familiar with political processes. Her future tasks at the Federal Office of Transport (FOT) will include the further development of public transport and freight transport in Switzerland.
