Gay SVP disbands

The Gay SVP has unanimously decided to disband at its general assembly. After the Swiss electorate clearly approved marriage for all in September 2021, it was no longer necessary to "continue pursuing the original objective".
Homosexuals, bisexuals and transgender people are largely accepted in society today, the Gay SVP announced on Wednesday. Only irrelevant fringe groups still hold the opinion that they need to be changed or cured.
And even if the majority of the SVP did not support marriage for all, "traditionalist considerations" rather than those against the acceptance of LGBTQ people were responsible for this. The AGM therefore approved the dissolution of Gay SVP.
