The public prosecutor's office in Ticino has opened a criminal investigation against a 62-year-old man. He is alleged to have carried out suspected unlawful financial transactions in institutions, companies or clubs. Until recently, the man was a member of a supporters' association of the Ambrì-Piotta field hockey club.

Money movements in connection with his membership of a HC Ambrì-Piotta (HCAP) supporters' group are also being investigated, the Ticino public prosecutor's office announced on Tuesday. However, the proceedings do not concern the field hockey club itself or other clubs or persons associated with HCAP.

The field hockey club itself announced that the person in question had no subscription rights to HCAP's accounts and had resigned from his functions in the supporters' group. The latter is independent and collects contributions for the benefit of the field hockey club and its youth section.

The Ticino public prosecutor's office concluded by stating that several hearings had already taken place in the ongoing proceedings. Bank and accounting documents had also been confiscated.
