The online editions of the CH-Media newspapers analyze the decision of the Supreme Court, the verdict against ex-Raiffeisen CEO Pierin Vincenz and other defendants, on their websites as follows:
"Have the highly remunerated and expensive defense lawyers once again found the fly in the ointment in the celebrity trial? No, the so-called indictment principle is an elementary prerequisite for a fair criminal trial. The public prosecutor's office is required to stick closely to the specific allegations and refrain from influencing the court in any way. This principle serves to protect the citizen from the state. Unfortunately, however, this is all too often neglected in everyday court proceedings. Ordinary offenders do not have the financial means and often do not receive the necessary judicial attention that is needed to avoid serious procedural errors and unjust judgments. The Supreme Court has spoken the law. But the Swiss justice system too often fails to live up to the principle of 'justice to whom justice is due'."
