Car breaks through wall in parking garage and plunges into the depths

In a serious accident between two cars in a parking garage in Füllinsdorf in the Basel region, one of them broke through a wall and plunged three meters into the ground. The driver and passenger were injured. They had to be rescued by the fire department.

The accident occurred shortly before 11.30 a.m. on Thursday, according to the Basel-Landschaft police. A 78-year-old driver intended to leave the parking garage on Ergolzstrasse. In doing so, he overlooked a car that had the right of way and collided with it.

However, the person who caused the accident drove on, broke through an adjacent wall and plunged his car from the upper floor around three meters into the ground.

The driver and his 74-year-old passenger had to be rescued from the car by the fire department. After initial treatment at the scene, they were taken to hospital by the ambulance service.

According to the police, the damaged vehicle was recovered and transported away by a towing company. The parking garage was closed until shortly after 3 p.m. for investigations and recovery work.
