After 31 of 75 municipalities in St. Gallen have been counted, the five current members of government are still ahead in the renewal elections. Of the new candidates, Christof Hartmann has the most votes.

In the canton of St. Gallen, the first municipality counts show the expected trend: the previous five members of government are likely to be re-elected. Beat Tinner (FDP) is in the lead, followed by Susanne Hartmann (center), Marc Mächler (FDP), Bruno Damann (center) and Laura Bucher from the SP.

Among the new candidates, the two SVP representatives Christof Hartmann and Dana Zemp are in the lead. They are followed somewhat surprisingly by Sarah Bösch, who is independent. Only then comes Bettina Surber, who wants to defend the second SP seat.

A total of 13 candidates are running for the seven seats in the St. Gallen government. A second round of voting is expected to take place on April 14.
