The Lucerne ski resort of Marbachegg is putting its ski lift back into operation for one day following the surprising snowfall on Sunday. There is plenty of snow on the slopes and favorable weather conditions are forecast, announced Sportbahnen Marbachegg AG on Friday.
The official end of the winter season was a month ago in the ski resort, which is located at just under 1500 meters above sea level. However, the ski lift had already been taken out of service on January 25 due to a lack of snow, according to a statement from the lift company.
During the recent precipitation, there was around 40 centimetres of fresh snow on the Marbachegg. Further snowfall is expected on Saturday. They were therefore unable to resist extending the ski season, according to the press release.
