Bei einem Unfall in Köniz bei Bern ist am Dienstagabend ein Kind getötet worden. Wie die Kantonspolizei mitteilte, wurde das Kind von einem landwirtschaftlichen Fahrzeug erfasst und schwer verletzt.
Despite immediate rescue measures, the child died of his serious injuries in hospital shortly afterwards, the Bern cantonal police and the public prosecutor's office announced on Wednesday. The police were alerted shortly after 9.30 p.m. on Tuesday.
A police spokeswoman did not want to provide any further details about the accident when asked. It initially remained unclear whether it was a traffic accident or an accident at work and where exactly it happened. The age and gender of the child were also not disclosed.
Several patrols and special services of the Bern cantonal police were deployed. Further investigations are under the direction of the Bern-Mittelland regional public prosecutor's office, according to the press release.
